The MacBook Neo stands out as Apple’s most aggressive entry into the budget market, primarily because it is the first Mac to utilize an iPhone-class processor—the A18 Pro—rather than the M-series chips found in the Air and Pro lines. This strategic shift allows the Neo to offer a fanless, silent experience with enough power for everyday tasks and Apple Intelligence at a breakthrough starting price of $599. Its most unique physical feature is the notchless 13-inch Liquid Retina display, which provides a clean, uniform-bezel look that even the more expensive models currently lack. Additionally, it brings a sense of personality back to the lineup with a vibrant "fun" color palette, including Indigo, Blush, and Citrus, featuring color-matched keycaps and feet for a cohesive, playful aesthetic.

What truly separates the Neo from the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are the intentional hardware trade-offs made to keep the price low. Unlike the Air and Pro, which feature backlit keyboards and Touch ID as standard, the base model Neo lacks a backlit keyboard and uses a simple lock button for authentication (Touch ID is reserved for the $699 tier).
