The future of EV's

California’s long‑standing Clean Air Vehicle Decal Program officially ended, meaning solo EV drivers can no longer use carpool lanes. Enforcement began December 1, with fines up to $500 for violators. This marks a significant shift in incentives that once encouraged EV adoption.
Loss of Federal Tax Credits
Alongside the program’s expiration, the federal $7,500 EV tax credit tied to the decal program also ended. This change reduces financial incentives for new EV buyers, potentially slowing adoption in the U.S..
Malaysia Launches Its First EV
Malaysian automaker Perodua unveiled its first locally developed EV, the QV‑E, with a range of 445 km on a lithium iron phosphate battery. The launch was celebrated as a milestone in building a sustainable EV ecosystem.
Innovative Battery Leasing Model
The Perodua QV‑E starts at $19,400, but buyers must lease the battery separately under a nine‑year subscription plan. This lowers upfront costs and introduces a new ownership model in Southeast Asia.
GMC Sierra EV Deals in the U.S.
In North America, GMC rolled out new incentives for the Sierra EV Denali, including low‑interest financing and rebates up to $1,250 for Costco members. These deals run through early January 2026.
Upcoming EV Launches in India
December 2025 is packed with launches in India, including the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the brand’s first electric SUV, debuting December 2. Other notable releases include new Tata and Kia models.
EV Winter in the U.S. Market
Despite global excitement, the U.S. auto industry faces what analysts call an “EV winter.” Sales dropped sharply in October, with Tesla faring better than rivals but still under pressure. High costs and slower demand are challenging automakers.
Tesla and Energy Challenges
Tesla continues to dominate headlines, including a class action over Powerwall battery recalls that left some customers with unusable systems. This underscores the growing pains of scaling EV and energy tech.
Consumer Adaptation in Cold Weather
As winter sets in, experts emphasize strategies for maximizing EV range in cold conditions. Tips include pre‑conditioning batteries, moderating speed, and using seat warmers instead of cabin heat.
The Global EV Outlook
Overall, EV adoption remains strong worldwide, with new models, incentives, and infrastructure expanding rapidly. Yet regional challenges—like reduced U.S. incentives and affordability concerns—show that the transition to electric mobility is far from uniform.
